Line-up

The band's third album, Turn Back, marked a return to the classic sextet format of previous albums and was a stronger, more consistent effort that had a harder edge than Hydra. The more edgy sound of the album was indicative of the maturation of group and included drummer Bobby Kimball's improved proficiency on the drums, as well as a more mature, confident vocal delivery from singer Joseph Williams. David Paich's keyboard work was also more sophisticated, sharper, and less derivative on previous efforts.

After touring to promote the album, the band recorded a live show in Amsterdam that was released as a two-CD set entitled Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records.
