iRobot Series Robot Vacuum Cleaners

iRobot, a robotics firm which has been a leader for years in the field, is now focusing on smart home automation. Their robot vacuum cleaners come with pinpoint navigation and dirt detectors.

In the frame story there is a story of a woman named Gloria who has a robot nursemaid named Robbie. Gloria is devastated when her parents decide to send him back to the factory.

Roomba

Roomba is an autonomous robotic vacuum cleaner. It is designed to clean carpets and bare floors. It maneuvers through furniture and obstacles to completely sweep the floor. It then automatically returns to the dock and charges and can be controlled by the smartphone app or remote control.

Most Roomba models are able to identify obstacles with infrared sensors and can change direction when they encounter an obstacle. The more advanced models can draw an outline of the floor's area and determine the best path to follow. They can sweep a larger area in less time and are more efficient. Some Roombas come with a squeegee that can be used to remove large debris such as pebbles and crumbs. Others have a high-capacity bin that can hold more dirt prior to needing to be empty.

In our tests Scooba, we found that the Scooba was able to clean most of our kitchen tiles, however, it struggled with our mudroom. It sucked up the mud, but was not able to completely clean the edges of the room, and it wasn't able to get close to our kitchen cabinets. We also discovered that we could easily have the rounded Scooba stuck to furniture. This was not a good thing for us.

It did a fantastic job of cleaning the rest of our home however, and it was extremely quick in cleaning up. It cleaned the bathroom very efficiently and we didn't have to worry about the smell that lingers. The Scooba is also quite loud, and it could be difficult to operate in a living room or bedroom room.

I noticed some gunk clogging up in the vacuum holes on the bottom of the Scooba that can be removed in part and rinsed off. This is important as blocked holes can cause the bot to stop working.

Braava

The iRobot Braava Jet m6 may look simple, but the company has packed a lot of smart engineering to make mopping and navigation work efficiently. The compact body, which measures 10 x 10,6 x 3,5 inches and weighs just 4.4 pounds allows it to navigate through small spaces without causing damage to furniture. The robot's cleaning head is designed to scrub hard floors and its nozzle sprays water to allow wet mopping. It also vibrates to release dirt and remove stains.

The robot employs cutting-edge vSLAM navigation to locate your home, avoiding carpet and other obstacles. Its driving wheels help it reach tight corners, and cliff sensors prevent it from falling down stairs or other steep drop-offs. It also learns about your habits of cleaning and suggests extra cleaning during pollen or allergy season.

Using the iRobot HOME app, you can set a schedule and select rooms to clean. You can also create Keep Out Zones that block off areas that you don't want the robot entering. You can also manage the robot using voice commands, due to its compatibility with Google Assistant and Alexa devices (sold separately).
