Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo drivers love their key fob's useful remote that comes with features. With a smartphone app they can lock and unlock the vehicle and start the engine and even locate it.

Put the key fob face up on an uncluttered surface. Locate the button that lets you release it, place an object between the cover and the fob, and pull up carefully.

Unlocking the Doors

Turning off the Alarm

Modern key fobs provide a great deal of convenience over a standard mechanical car key. They can't always function perfectly and the batteries may be dead. If you're in a hurry, or aren't keen on going to an establishment to get your key fob reprogrammed you can attempt to make it work at home.

Set out your key fobs, batteries, and extra keys on a clean surface. Find the small black button on the bottom left corner on the key fob, then slide it to the right. The cover should come loose and fall off, revealing the mechanical key blade beneath it.

You can unlock all doors as well as the reargate by pressing the unlock button on the key fob two times. The lock button also shuts the windows and the sunroof (if fitted) by pressing it for 2 seconds. Connect the battery, and the alarm should stop. If it does not then the owner's manual must include a reset procedure.
