Saab Key Programming

Saab cars built since 1994 use an immobilizer system based on a set of keys. The addition of a key requires an entirely new transponder and programming. This is usually done at the dealer using a Tech2 diagnostic tool.

Transponder key

The transponder is a key equipped with an electronic chip. This chip sends out a signal when the key is inserted in the ignition. The car then analyzes the signal to see whether it is identical to the one on the key. If the signals match the car will then unlock itself and begin.
