Another great feature is Carpet Boost, which gives the S9 extra suction power when it encounters carpeting so it can suck up even more dirt and debris. The S9 has an open-front design that lets it get closer to corners and walls than previous round designs. But, be aware that this model doesn't do well with shag or high-pile carpeting.

In our tests we discovered that the iRobot S9+ cleans thoroughly and efficiently on a variety of floor surfaces, from hard to medium-pile carpets and rugs. It also worked well on vinyl flooring, and laminate flooring. It also did a great job of navigating between furniture and objects, although it struggled a bit with stairs, and can crash into objects like bookcases.

The S9's ability to automatically return to its base and empty its dust bin after it's full was an excellent feature. It reduced the need for manual maintenance. The dust bag should last for around 30 loads, or around two months, and you'll have to replace the filter every once every few months (which is actually recommended by iRobot). Our experience suggests that the iRobot S9+ doesn't get very loud during operation, so it's a good choice for those who live with pets or children.

Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid

Robot vacuum cleaners are made to do the chores for you, and they are able to clean hardwood and carpeted flooring. Some robot vacuum cleaners are able to be controlled using apps on smartphones, and others have mopping technology for kitchen and bathroom flooring. They're an excellent solution for busy families, and they're becoming more affordable than ever before. But if you want top-tech features for your robotic vacuum cleaner, you're going to need to pay a little more.

The Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid vacuum and mopping machine is a great option for those who live in a multi-floored home. Dual motors provide it with an impressive cleaning capacity and the 0.6l dustbin can hold plenty of pet hair. The dustbin is able to be removed and emptied without fuss which is beneficial because you'll need to clean it regularly.

It's easy to set it up as well, but I do recommend fully charging the X8 Hybrid before running it for the first time. Install the Eufy Home application and follow the instructions to connect it to your WiFi network. Once you've done that the app will assist you create a precise map of your home. You can name rooms, divide large spaces into sub-rooms (good for open plan living) and direct the X8 Hybrid to specific areas that need cleaning at the time of. There are many other robots that have similar mapping and scanning functions, but Eufy's application is more refined and intuitive than others.

A great feature on the X8 Hybrid is that you can control the mop or vacuum using your voice, thanks to integration with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. This is a wonderful feature that makes the robot more hands-free. It was very effective in our test house.

Like other robotic vacuums, the best vacuum mop combo X8 Hybrid has some issues with floors that are not clean. It may miss pet hair and other small objects, and it is prone to bump into objects - like its own charger at the charging base. It's also not as quiet as some other models we've tried, and the whirring sound could be distracting.

Roborock V3S Pro

This model doesn't have the same number of features as the more expensive models we tested, however it does have the basics covered. It has a big dust bin which can hold a lot of dirt before it needs to be empty. The mop and vacuum system is great for carpets with hard floors as well as carpets with a low pile. It's also quiet. We could watch TV while it cleaned without feeling like we were constantly bombarded by the sound.

Our test subjects were extremely impressed by how easy the machine was to operate and set up. They also loved its ability to eliminate all the messes that had accumulated on their flooring. It was effective in getting rid of pet hair, messes, and carpeting, but it had a harder time removing stubborn stains. The app was easy to use and easy to understand. They were able set up the vacuum to clean regularly to cut down on manual work. The only downside is that it does not have any mapping technology or object avoidance, so you aren't able to send it to specific rooms or follow virtual boundaries (though magnetic boundary strips can be used).

Another model from the iRobot's budget line which is the V3S Pro has some impressive features for the money. It was the most efficient robot vacuum in our tests for navigating and avoiding obstacles. It's also a great budget option for those who want a more intelligent, self-emptying robot vacuum that can take care of pet messes and hair on hardwood floors and low-pile carpeting. It's also very quiet and comes with a massive dust bin that holds plenty of debris prior to when it's time to empty it and you don't have to be concerned about having to empty it every time you use it.

The V3S Pro did not make it onto our top choice lists from reliable sources that perform hands-on tests, but it received high marks from Modern Castle, Smart Robot Reviews and The Ambient. The V3S Pro was simple to use and set up, but the battery life was a bit short.

Roborock Q Revo

The Q Revo is an entry-level robot vacuum cleaner that offers a lot of features for a low cost. It comes with many of the features found on the top models, like intelligent navigation and mapping, without spending a fortune. You can even use voice commands via Alexa, Google Assistant, or Apple Siri shortcuts to create custom automations, and then start your cleaning cycle from anywhere while you're away.

Roborock took its time in creating this clever cleaner. It is extremely well-constructed, and it feels like high-end materials were used in the making of it. Its base is solid and sturdy and has the charging port built into the battery. The docking station is located for the clean-water tank as well as the dirty-water bins above. Under them, you'll discover a panel that holds the sealed vacuum bag.

After connecting your device to the app, you'll see a 2D and 3D map of your house that will show you where your robot is located at any given time and the specific area it's cleaning. You can also create virtual barriers to keep your robot from certain areas or clean only certain types of flooring. It can also alter its power settings based on the kind of floor being cleaned and select the most effective cleaning method.

The Q Revo stands out from many other robot vacuums because it can lift both of its mop heads while vacuuming. This helps to prevent carpet fibres from becoming stained. It's actually one of the few vacuums that can do this.

The Q Revo's suction force of 5500Pa is sufficient to remove pet hair and dust specks when you clean. The all-rubber brush is excellent at separating human and animal hair and also adapting to uneven surfaces.

The only downside to this machine is that it takes some time to empty and fill both the clean and dirty tanks. Luckily, you can decrease the frequency of this by using the auto-empty feature that will automatically empty the container after a few days. You'll still have to check the level of water in the dock manually though, as there isn't an automatic reminder.
