Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo drivers appreciate their key fob's convenient remote features. They can lock and unlock their vehicle and start the engine, and even locate it via a smartphone application.

Place the key fob's face up on a clean surface. Find the button that opens it, insert a coin between the fob and the cover and then pull it up with care.

Unlocking the Door

But, as with any battery-powered electronic device the key fob may lose its charge or stop working after a certain period of time. The cover will begin to loosen and fall off and reveal the mechanical key blade underneath.

Press the key fob's unlock button two times quickly and you'll be able open all doors and the tailgate. By pressing the lock button for two seconds, you will be able to close the sunroof and windows when they're equipped. Reconnect the battery, and the alarm should stop. If it doesn't, then the owner's manual should include a method to reset the system.
