Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random additional substat is also increased with each upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as useful for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll the perfect version.

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used for the upgrade items will be consumed for the duration of time and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the item level, but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item upgrader mod will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from item upgraders NPCs in a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which displays a preview of the item at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item and the current item level. For example weapons cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. This is to allow players to get their gear up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters, instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

Another notable change is that crests have one use, so it's important to use them properly. For instance it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the Best item upgrader equipment you have, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially relevant for items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The account-wide discount is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
