WoW Upgrades - The Item Level upgrade Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item upgrades used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current it is recommended you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.

The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that can be used to level up weapons tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will display the preview of an item's next upgrade level when there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and the current item upgrader kit level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an item upgrades has been upgraded to a certain degree it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Upgraders for items are available in many places on the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and the possibility of getting a new recipe. The upgrade discount increases with the number of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.

Another notable change is that crests only have one purpose therefore it's essential to use them wisely. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the best gear that you can find and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The discount for the entire account will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
