Gastrointestinal system: Frequently: dyspepsia or hiccup. Infrequent: nausea, anorexia, constipation, stomach pain, vomiting. Sometimes: Hematologic system and lymphatic leukopenia, or thrombocytopenia.

The sedative effects of this medication may be stronger in elderly and debilitated individuals. It should only be administered for the least duration that is possible for the case of these patients. Other medications may interact with AMBIEN. Let your doctor know about any medicines that you are taking such as prescription and non-prescription herbs, supplements, Vitamins and other supplements.

Take Precautions

Be aware that AMBIEN might induce sleepy behaviors that are complex (e.g. sleepwalking, talking, driving, preparing as well as eating) and that serious injuries and death have occurred when these situations occur. Patients are advised to consume AMBIEN before going to bed and ensure a good night's sleep (8 hours) prior to engaging in tasks that require full alertness next day [see WARNINGS AND precautions].

Advise patients that AMBIEN may cause dizziness and drowsiness. blurred/double vision and decreased consciousness and increase the likelihood for falls among older people. Patients should be instructed to refrain from activities that require alertness until they feel fully awake. Patients should not drive vehicles or operate machinery after using AMBIEN.

Women must be aware they are aware that AMBIEN isn't recommended during breastfeeding as the drug zolpidem is able to pass into breast milk, creating asthma depression. (See use in Specific populations). Patients must be taught to keep AMBIEN and all medications out of the reach of young children.
