2. Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra

Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra robot vacuum and mop is an excellent robot with an array of amazing automated features. It is available in three models that include the basic S7, the S7 MaxV Plus and the S7 MaxV Ultra. The latter model is the only one with an Empty Wash Fill Dock (or an alternative Auto-Empty Dock). These docks allow the robot to return to its home base and empty the debris it has collected into a dust bag or reservoir, drain the dirty water tank and wash its mopping pads.

Sensors on the S7 work together to clean and avoid obstacles. It can detect floor types and save a map for rooms and zones. It even detects dirt levels. It's also capable of scheduling and executing spot cleaning sessions. It was able to perform well in our standard tests, but it didn't quite match the iRobot Roomba j7+ in the carpet deep clean test.

You can program the S7 using the companion app to run a cleansing cycle according to your schedule. You can choose a time either day or week as well as choose from a variety of cleaning options, mops like automatic, eco, and deep clean. The IQ XL is able to connect to your WiFi at home and allow you to track its progress in cleaning using the Shark app. The app lets you set a cleaning schedule, receive notifications via push about its current status it is in, and it can pause and resume cleaning or set it to a single room. The Shark IQ XL is a good vacuum cleaner. It does a decent job of cleaning bare floors and it can maneuver itself well. However it's not the best choice for carpeted floors. Shark IQ XL feels a bit less sturdy than the Roomba 694. It does a good job at cleaning carpeted floors, but doesn't match the iRobot Roomba i7 when it comes to bare floor performance. The i7 is also built better and feels more durable. It is robust, has lower maintenance requirements, has lower recurring costs, charges faster while offering comparable battery performance, and comes with far more advanced automation features such as no-go zones and the ability to pick certain rooms to be cleaned.

iRobot j7+

This robotic mop and vacuum combo is a rare beast that can perform both tasks efficiently. iRobot Combo j7+ has all the smarts and features of its j7 counterpart, including LiDAR map and self-emptying. However, it also has additional features for vacuuming and mopping.

The j7+ utilizes the latest acoustic sensor technology to detect the type of floor, so that it can mop or vacuum the room in its first attempt. This information is also used to determine the best cleaning options for rooms with carpets or rugs versus those with hard flooring.

Like most robotic vacuums, the j7+ is relatively quiet when it's running, and much quieter when mopping. The highest reading we could get on our decibel meter was 64db, which is similar to the background noise of office chatter.

It is easy to set up a cleaning schedule and alter what happens when the dust canister fills. The j7+ is also controlled by voice assistants like Alexa, Google Assistant and others. The app lets you create and view maps in your home.

The j7+ did well in our tests on both carpeted and hard floors, getting rid of all the dirt we tossed at it. It struggles a bit with pet hair and larger particles like sand, but it is able to remove these items with a little more effort. It also has decent navigation capabilities and a set of cliff sensors to prevent it from plunging down a flight of stairs or getting stuck on furniture legs.

The J7+ has some minor flaws, for instance, it can get stuck on cords or rugs and doesn't always switch off the mopping function when it is done vacuuming. Otherwise, this is an excellent model that checks all the right boxes.

iRobot J7+ is one of the most efficient auto-emptying systems we've tried. It deposits its 14oz / 0.4-liter dust container into the base station where it automatically emptys itself for you.
