Romance

Avon Books is an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers that publishes romance novels. Avon books are known for their historical romances which appeal to a wide range of readers. Paperbacks as well as ebooks are available. Avon's romance books are a hit among adults and teens.

History

In the beginning of Avon Publications, the company focused on paperback fiction. It was founded in 1941 by the American News Company to create an alternative to Pocket Books, which published the dime novel. The ANC hired Joseph Meyers and Edna Meyers Williams, brothers and sisters to establish the company. The Avon Historical Society holds more than 1,000 items including the original Avon Books. They were digitized and are now available online.
