WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases item level by +3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.

The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less valuable for those with lower requirements because of the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The Item Level upgrade upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item but they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items which can be used to improve the quality of weapons and tools, armor and accessories. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade item is able to be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. The button will display the preview of an item upgrades's next upgrade level if there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the item slot and current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Many locations offer item upgraders, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade item discount as well as a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by having players complete specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit and a drawback.

In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. After an upgrade has been completed to a specific level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This applies even if those items come from an entirely different set of equipment.

The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is cut also, but is only available once certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

Players have a variety of choices when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and that each rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the type of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by working through content at the appropriate level. This could be by engaging in outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in any difficulty to earn equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. When a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable change is that crests have one usage, so it's important to use them wisely. It's Best item upgrader to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can locate and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially true for items such as rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The account-wide discount is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
