The sequel to Supergiant Games 2020 roguelike Hades is expected to be released in the year 2019. It's an ambitious move that raises the stakes and offers more insight into the politics of family.

Melinoe is back on the hunt to kill Chronos, the titan of time. Along the way she'll meet new gods and specters. These include the personification of light Apollo and the goddess of witchcraft Hecate and the god of retribution Nemesis.

1. Hades 2 Technical test

If you're a big fan of Supergiant Games and their acclaimed 2020 roguelike Hades is a good bet, then it could be worth your while to consider signing up to participate in the technical test for the sequel. The studio claims that its Early Access launch is on the next horizon, and playing the game will help them iron out any bugs in the game's smaller player base than the full 1.0 release.

The process of signing up is as easy as logging onto the game's Steam page, and then pressing the "request access" button. There are a limited number of spots available, though the majority of those who applies will be considered. The technical test will let players explore the first area of Hades 2, with early-game characters systems, content, and characters. Players who finish the area will be "gently urged" to put aside and wait for the Early Access Version, which should launch shortly.

Each region has its own unique take on the Underworld. Some are more accessible than others, but all offer unique challenges that set them apart from other roguelites.

Supergiant also tweaked the gameplay a bit in the early access version, cutting down some of the grinding required to reach certain upgrades, and making it easier to move from one area to the next. There's still plenty of work to be completed before the game is released for full release, but the studio has made it clear that it's keen to maximize player feedback and keep working to bring Hades 2 to a perfect state.

Supergiant is known for listening to its customers and responding to any issues that pop up, which is evident in the way it has handled the early access version of Hades 2. It may be some time before the full version launches, but it already feels worthy of a place on your gaming shelf along with its predecessor.

3. Hades 2 Beta

Hades was a roguelike unlike any other that came out in the year of 2018. The game received numerous awards and is considered to be one of the best games ever made. It's no surprise that the game was so popular with people, thanks to its rich story which is rooted in Greek mythology, stories of family struggles and LGBTQ+ representation which feels organic and inclusive. So when Supergiant Games announced that there was a sequel in the process, it was no surprise that fans were excited.

Seven years on from the initial release, Hades 2 is finally making its way into early access. While it's not changed much mechanically, Supergiant's passion and dedication to Hades 2 are evident from the beginning.

According to the Steam page for Hades 2, the game "brings back all the elements that made the first one so special such as the isometric view clearing rooms, selecting boons and unleashing powerful attacks, the central world, with a variety of fully voice-acted characters to speak with and learn from, the ever-shifting Underworld and much more."

The technical test also adds new features to the game. You can unlock permanent upgrades for Melinoe and a brand new weapon. You'll also be able to tame witchy familiars, reveal secrets at the Arcana Altar, and gather agents that can boost your abilities.

The most exciting enhancement is likely Omega attacks which are a fresh method of powering up your weapons and spells. By using these attacks you can increase your magick gauge and unleash devastating strikes with huge areas of impact. It's a great method to add variety to the moment-to-moment action of combat.

Hades 2 beta is available both on Steam and Epic Games Store. Supergiant has stated that they will keep fans informed as they work towards the 1.0 release by 2024. In the meantime, you can add a wishlist to the game on both platforms to be notified when it launches.

4. Hades 2 Release Date
