Technology

At its 2022 Year in Infrastructure (YII) event, Bentley Systems introduced a range of enhanced products that use digital twins and cloud data to enable rapid, accurate design and project delivery.

Bentley's advanced AM system, for instance, can convert 3D CAD designs into physical components. The technology has been utilized to produce everything from on-the-job supported tools for Bentley's manufacturing partners to historically accurate tools to help restore its iconic wood shop, as well as the lightweight sanding blocks required to create Bentley models driven in record breaking times at the Pikes Peak Challenge in America.

The ProjectWise platform was enhanced by introducing a variety of new features, including the capability to reuse digital components; an expanded capability for civil design review and an ability to Drive Simulation to test the feasibility of a particular design; and the addition of multiple formats for project files to an integrated workspace to facilitate collaborative review of design. Bentley has also announced the Bentley Infrastructure Cloud - a set of integrated solutions that spans infrastructure project lifecycles.

The new solutions include the Dam Monitoring Solution that provides an unidirectional access to data. It also comes with an iTwin Bridge Monitoring Solution which makes use of drone videos, iTwin Capture and IoT sensors to provide real-time inspections on bridges. Bentley has also integrated its iTwin Platform with the Embodied Carbon in Construction Calculator to help users meet sustainability standards.
