Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and essential way to boost the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can be a great source of additional damage and more AD or even more attaches.

Often times however upgraded Common and Magic gear is often surpassed by Rare-grade gear due to their higher requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a type of upgrade that can be applied to weapon and armor items. They improve the stats of the item upgrade that they're attached to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of the game and are available from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Additionally, they can be salvaged from items that have upgrade components in them using a specialist or more powerful salvage kit.

The amount of damage that an armored item upgrade or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the degree of upgrades. A piece of armor upgraded to its highest upgrade level will increase its damage absorption. It is important to note that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it must be more heavy.

There are several types of armor upgrades that are available in the game and they all have different effects. For instance, certain upgrades will give the armor a certain amount of health points while others will make it lighter and stronger. The kind of armor upgrade an item can receive will be identified by the name of the upgrade as illustrated in the table below.

The quality of a gem can be improved by the Jeweler, in stages that range from Crude to Royal. Depending on the tier of the jewel it can provide different stat boost when slotted into gear, weapons and jewelry.

The Jeweler can craft all tiers of gems, except for the rare and legendary ones, which you must be at certain levels to gain. Jewels can be substituted with another one without damaging the original. However it is only possible to replace the jewels in a piece of equipment once.

It is common to use more jewelry to enhance the appearance of. The jewels also improve performance and create a surface harder than metal so that repeated friction from pivots do not cause damage to them.

A Glyphmaster can offer glyphs to improve the look of your shields and weapons. These glyphs offer a small boost and can be freely exchanged, however they are not guaranteed to show up as loot.
