iRobot Roomba Combo Review

iRobot Roomba combination adapts to your routine cleaning and suggests programs that are suitable for you. Smart mapping, automatic scheduling, and Clean While I'm Away are just some of the meticulously designed features that are powered by iRobot OS.

The iRobot app allows you to review images of objects that the Combo J7+ can capture to understand which areas it should avoid (lamp cords, for example). You can also personalize your map by drawing specific areas that the robot must avoid.

Vacuuming

The Combo Essential has a powerful 4-Stage Cleaning System that vacuums and mop in one sweep and grabs dirt from hard-to reach places such as under the couch. It uses smart navigation for wall-towall cleaning and to ensure that you don't fall on stairs. Sensors help navigate around furniture. Clean Base Auto-Fill Docks empty debris for up to 60 days, and refills liquid to allow for self-cleaning. Additionally, it's compatible with more cleaning solutions than any other 2-in-1.

The roomba-based combination is a powerful mop, but it lacks some more sophisticated features that make Roomba j7+ an outstanding sweeper. It switches from sweeping to mopping when it senses the presence of a damp surface. A small robot arm raises the water tank and dustbin combination and a new pad is inserted into the cleaner when you hit a button.

It was able to navigate smoothly even when the route was not clear. It's not very good in avoiding obstacles, but it's quick to recognize and avoid larger objects like toys and socks.

The app lets you modify your schedule, design an exact cleaning route and create Keep Out Zones or Clean Zones to tell the robot where it should be. It also provides a summary of what it has done and its health state. You can even pair it with your Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant-enabled devices to provide voice control. Intelligent platform from iRobot also automatically updates the Combo's software, and adds new features and capabilities in real-time.

Object Detection

iRobot combo robots automatically detect and avoid objects like stairs, sofas, tables, chairs as well as pet toys, laundry hampers and other household clutter. They also use sensors to detect carpets and rug. They then adjust their cleaning settings according to that recognition, helping to prevent wet mess. They have an automatic sensor that tells them when to stop cleaning and clean and resurface.

You can also see an estimate of the time to know the length of time your robot will be home. And iRobot OS makes thoughtful suggestions, like extra cleaning schedules in the time of pet sheds, delivered directly to your mobile device. Of course when you use any smart home device that collects and manages data about your space, you'll need to be at ease with giving away personal information. In our tests, every company we tested was asked about the security measures for sensitive information. iRobot claims that it doesn't sell customer information and has laid out its Privacy Principles on its website.

Navigation

The Roomba Combo uses Imprint Smart Mapping technology to learn and map your floorplan and then re-maps it if needed. Once a room has been mapped, you can set cleaning preferences for that specific area using the iRobot Home App and it will automatically clean that area during subsequent missions. Roomba also offers Dirt Detective, which automatically prioritises your dirtiest rooms for the most frequent cleaning or mopping. PrecisionVision Navigation lets it avoid objects such as charging cables, shoes and socks. This is a great feature that will save you time when you're trying to get a certain job done.

Battery Life

The Combo j7+ is powered by a powerful lithium-ion battery that has ample capabilities to clean your home. The robot's water tank and dust bins can hold 200 and 400 ml respectively. It also has a high-efficiency filtering system that collects dirt particles and prevents them from resurfacing. It is compatible with the iRobot application and voice assistants so you can control it using your smartphone or other devices.

The Combo j7+ can also capture images of objects to help avoid them on future cleaning trips. irobot series however, opted not to include an automatic mop pad cleaning, something we've seen on recent high-end robotic cleaners. This is a minor complaint, but it would have been nice to see this feature available on the Combo J7+. The Combo J7+ comes with a great warranty and is easy to use.
